Zeiss: new Clarlet 1.74 AS

With the name Clarlet 1.74 AS, Carl Zeiss is presenting a new lens made of a plastic material with the highest refractive index currently available for spectacle lenses. The index of 1.74 reduces the edge thickness of lenses for wearers with medium and severe myopia by up to 40% (compared with traditional plastic lenses).

Clarlet 1.74 AS is provided with a Hard coating, a high-quality AR coating and Clean Coat. The power range available extends from -3 D to - 10 D (cylinder to 2 D). The Abbe number of the material is 33 and its density lies at 1.47 g/cm3.

The material can be processed without difficulty using standard ophthalmic lab machines. As for all the company's lenses, Carl Zeiss also offers its edging service for the new Clarlet 1.74.
