Spotlights on the next Mido

Mido, the leading international eyewear exhibition, is busy at work on its 2005 event which, from 6 to 9 May will return to being a 4-day show at Milan Fair's traditional Portello pavilions.

In 2004, the Milan-based exhibition occupied 130,000 sq.m. with 1,203 exhibitors, hosted 37,134 visitors, represented 125 countries, displayed 2 million products with 1,500 marks, and welcomed 360 journalists. In percentage terms, 68% of the exhibitors and 61% of the visitors at Mido 2004 were from other countries, thus substantiating the truly international nature of the event.

Mido's success lies in its simple and winning formula based on its continual efforts to offer everything that the industry produces, designs and needs. This formula is further strengthened by the services offered by Mido both during the show itself and throughout the year to visitors and exhibitors alike. As a result the exhibition is broken down into various areas, both traditional areas and new entries.

In 2005, the exhibition will offer all of Mido's traditional appointments, including Mido Trend and Mido Tech.

Mido Trend is a space reserved exclusively to sophisticated fashion and cutting-edge design, created with the intent of hosting proposals from innovative companies across the globe each year. Mido Tech is the largest international showcase of technologies and innovation and offers the best in machinery, components and raw materials. It is the sole exhibition in the world to showcase the full range of products made by the industry.

After the success scored at its debut in 2004, the new Mido Sport area will be back with the finest new offerings in sports eyewear. This is an important space where the focus is on the meticulous research work that melds strict sports requirements with the need for absolute comfort and that is the distinguishing feature of the products on display. This three-dimensional showcase offers a first-hand experience of the emotions and great challenges of the main sports activities.

Mido Education, inaugurated in 2004, is working on new courses. Prepared in team with leading international providers once again, the ambitious objective of Mido's training courses in 2005 is to be even more successful than last year. Training packages will be prepared by increasingly more qualified lecturers who have chosen the exhibition to provide an advance presentation of their research findings.

Mido means products, technology, training, information and, both during the exhibition and the rest of the year, services.

Mido On Line, through EyesWay and its existing agreements with Expo page, is available, 24 hours a day 365 days a year, for all the sector. The EyesWay editorial team produces and publishes an eyewear daily in Italian and English with real-time news on the most important events.

Mido Easyservice means first and foremost organizing travel to Mido in Milan. Exhibitors and visitors alike can take advantage of the easy on-line service to book travel and accommodation from every corner of the world. It also means making a stay in Milan an opportunity to see its cultural attractions and for entertainment as well.

At Silmo, Mido will be presenting the new things it has in store for the exhibition in 2005, which is set to be, as in 2004, an important moment for the entire sector. The first is a small, but precious gift to help the trade organize its busy appointment book for the year. The Mido calendar is a personal organizer with all the must-attend eyewear and fashion events.

Mido 2005 at Fiera Milano's Portello pavilions from 6 to 9 May is an unmissable appointment.
