Safilens to sponsor Barcelona-Dakar 2005

In line with its philosophy and the philosophy of the Carrera trademark, Safilens has decided to back the spirit of adventure of the 'Barcelona-Dakar 2005', the most important and exciting off-road race in the world.

The 'Carrera - Sky off road' team is part of Martin Racing, with over 20 years experience in motor-cross and off-road racing. The determination and passion for sport of all team members has enabled Martin Racing to achieve a top international reputation. Team results over the years have been excellent, with second place in the recent motor-cross word championships.

The race sets out from Barcelona on January 1 2005 and Safilens, through its Carrera Contact brand, dedicated to sportsmen and women, particularly riders, will be competing with 3 motor cycles, a truck and a pick-up.

Already associated via Carrera with the world of motor cycle racing, Safilens has decided to strengthen its racing vocation in an area where passion and determination count for more than engine tuning. After the excellent results in Formula 1 (Ralph Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello) and outstanding performances in motor cycle racing (Roberto Locatelli) Safilens has now chosen to test its lenses in the extreme world of endurance racing - where environmental conditions and the hazards of the route push riders to the limits and where 100% reliability is a must.
