New Roberto Cavalli sun collection

Produced by Marcolin, the new Roberto Cavalli sunglasses collection is precious and elegant, characterised by unusual, rich details that instantly recall their designer.
Decorations, new materials, jeweller's art, 3D effects are the outstanding features in the new frames. The references to the clothes collections are immediately and clearly recognised: the embroidery effect in high relief with tiny inserts of coloured enamel encircling the front, the 3D opening with a jeweller's touch on the temple, the enamelled stars attached to the lens, weave-effect designs on the temples.

The most classic of shapes have been reinvented and updated by original materials and designs. The pilot is gentle, close fitting; the monel laser-engraved for a biker effect with temples and bridges in spoke effect. The masculine feel contrasts with the intense gold of the frame combined with smoke lenses.

The snake returns on a larger front elongated outwards, the icon of this designer twisting on itself and attaching to the ribbed temple. The seductive windows - evoking the designer's clothes collections where they are cleverly positioned on breathtaking evening dresses - are used as decoration on the temples of the most important frames. Work echoing the goldsmith's art and with a 3-D effect are combined with metal or acetate fronts that, whether rectangular or round, are all very generous in size. The diamante monogram on the lens emphasises the richness of the metal frames.

The two particularly light nylon frames are attached at the temple by prominent enamelled glittering stars, contrasting with the decidedly casual style of the glasses. The decoration on the acetate frames, large and in a squared or slightly cat's eye shape, has been inspired by American 50s bijoux. Embroidery effects with turquoise or coral lacquer call to mind nature's richest.

The animal imprints typical of the Roberto Cavalli world, engraved on the temples, contrast with the sporty style of the injection-moulded frames. The lenses of nearly all the frames are customised by the designer's signature.
