Lcr Carrera team results in the 2004 Moto GP
The 2004 Moto GP World Championship drew to a close on October 31 in Valencia, with brilliant results for the riders of the Carrera Lcr team.
Randy De Puniet, who rode to victory in the Grand Prix in Catalunya and qualified 2nd place in South Africa, Spain and the Czech Republic, finished the season in 3rd place both in the 250 class and in the world championship. Roberto Locatelli, riding high after victories in Italy and Germany, chalked up 6th place in the 125 class and finished 3rd in the world championship. Mattia Pasini was nominated best newcomer of 2004 complete with the 'Rookie of the Year' award.
For Safilo Group, the main sponsor of the Lcr team, 2004 was the third consecutive year of investing significant resources in the expertise of the team led and managed by Lucio Cecchinello and the year was certainly not without its high points.
Carrera was quite the protagonist at the Moto GP, thanks to the numerous endorsers who sported 'Carrera Race' eyewear, personalized in their team colours. Carrera was rewarded with very successful results: Carrera endorser Max Biaggi came third in the world championship, after taking first place in Germany and second place in South Africa, Spain, Brazil, Malaysia and Valencia.
Among other Carrera endorsers, Carlos Checa deserves a mention for his second place in France, Loris Capirossi for his third place in Australia and the third place wins by Marco Melandri in Catalunya and Holland.
