Italian fashion houses in Honolulu's temple of luxury

The sumptuous Hawaiian shopping center, Ala Moana, which hosts 270 stores and restaurants, also boasts pret-à-porter and high-fashion boutiques of Italian labels such as Versace, Ferragamo, Bulgari, Etro, Prada, Max Mara, Armani and other internationally famous names.

Fendi, another Italian fashion house which has been present in the Hawaiian center since 1990, is currently extending its presence with the opening of a spacious store in the newest part of Ala Moana. Other Italian eyewear brands are present within the high-fashion stores.

Every year Hawaii counts over five million visitors, more than one million of whom come from Japan. During the first nine months of this year, they had already spent 7.7 billion dollars (6.5% more than last year); according to Honolulu daily newspaper Pacific Business News, at this rate, by the end of 2004 travelers will have spent around 8.8 billion dollars.
