Last night Tom Ford concluded his ten years at Gucci with the presentation of the winter 2004 collection for women.

The Texan stylist said goodbye for the last time to an ecstatic crowd, and in perfect Hollywood style rewarded a tearful audience with an incomparable mix of sex appeal and glamour which will certainly gain him a place on the Olympus of fashion.
When Ford took his final bow, guests burst into tears, showered him with rose petals and hailed the winter 2004 collection as 'a masterpiece', 'stupendous' and 'magnificent'.

'It was a spectacular finale to a glittering career in fashion', Burt Tansky of Neiman Marcus declared to Reuters'.

Ford will always be remembered as the stylist who transformed Gucci into the sexiest fashion house and brought it back to life.

Before the fashion show, Domenico Del Sole, president and chief executive of Gucci, who was also at the farewell, had communicated the data for the last quarter of 2003, which saw a two-figure percentage growth in sales in all stores throughout the world, including Europe.

Back
