Airess closes down
Last Friday the official receiver arranged for the total liquidation of Airess. The court rejected the application from a Swiss investment company and from Gem Lunetterie, as the offers included postponement clauses mainly concerning the withdrawal of licenses.
The decision to proceed with the total closedown of the company led to the dismissal of 196 employees, some of whom could benefit from early retirement. Until now, the official receiver has considered them as being technically unemployed, with wages guaranteed until February 15. Preliminary discussions on dismissals begin today.
It's a hard blow for optics at Oyonnax which, in less than a year, has lost approximately 390 jobs following the presentation of the financial statements for Berthet-Bondet, Bouvret and Airess; at Moréz, however, the situation is stable.
