Adiconsum: guide to purchasing sunglasses and ophthalmic glasses
Adiconsum, the Cisl (Federation of Italian Trade Unions) Consumers' Association, has recently finalized the 'Glasses and European consumers' project. Co-funded by the Belluno Chamber of Commerce, its aim is to foster consumer information and knowledge about the quality of glasses.
During the press conference on October 7, the Secretary General of the Belluno Cisl, Primo Torresin, explained the origins of the project. He underscored how the interests of consumers and manufacturing companies can be close, given that a high standard of quality maintains the richness and uniqueness of glasses while at the same time preserving safety requirements and protecting the consumer.
Francesco Masini, attorney and Secretary of Adiconsum in Belluno, talked about the work carried out at operational level and the results achieved. These have led to the publication of 'A guide to buying sunglasses and ophthalmic glasses', produced with the collaboration and technical support of Certottica. The guide, which will be distributed through the Chambers of Commerce in all European Union countries, outlines the main characteristics glasses must have if they are to be safe and gives practical examples of the mandatory documentation that comes with the product.
'Look for Quality', the title of the project's information campaign, will cover the whole of Italy and other countries in Italian and English. Looking for quality is the primary undertaking of the entire initiative in order to put across to consumers that glasses are not simply a matter of 'look' but of quality, because they are a product that has a direct link with eye health.
