Let Shinpei Naito and ic! berlin take you on a journey
For Autumn/Winter 2014, the futurist artist Shinpei Naito has created a lookbook of colourful fantasy worlds for ic! berlin "Since living in Berlin I have always wanted to work with ic! berlin. I met the founder, Ralph Anderl, about five years ago and became a huge fan. His unique character inspired me and has influenced my work. I feel honoured that ic! berlin gave me such a great chance to express my artwork for their new collection" said Shinpei Naito. His images are inspired by ic! berlin's new collection "Something I want... to tell you", its femininity, nature and colours. "When I had the first meeting with the ic! berlin Art Department, I already had many concepts for this collaboration. I thought it would be interesting if their glasses would become immersed within my compositions. I hope every single page surprises you and you enjoy my collaboration." Outside it may be bleak, raining or snowing, but in here there is no cold. There is no sadness. There is no longing. There is only what lies before you: colour, nature and beauty. It is a world of splendour, where ethereal albino creatures with tattooed backs run across the vines through bouquets of exquisite wildflowers: the markings on the petals echoing the tattoos on these otherwise pure white beasts. A world where tiny golden hummingbirds float through the air and giant firebirds with eyes like sapphires rise in a majestic pas de deux. "Usually, my process begins in a traditional way by working with my hands. I paint on paper using watercolours and brushes. The next step involves taking photos and then enhancing the original paintings using software. Combining this modern technique with traditional painting allows me to adapt my work and explore another aspect of it." Shinpei Naito is a Japanese-born, Berlin-based futuristic artist and textile designer. His work for Michalsky and Mont Blanc has been seen all over the world. Every picture has its own story to tell. Look closer, look deeper, and lose yourself. "It was a fulfilling experience for me. I never pictured using glasses as a motive for my artwork. I tried to infuse the glasses within my fantasy world, so it appears as if the two different materials melt together." "I felt that this beautiful collection is very sophisticated. I adore the shapes of the frames. These designs allow whoever wearing them to feel elegant and sexy! No doubt this is a collection for woman."
