From 4 to 6 February 2023, MIDO is back at Fieramilano Rho. This year will offer an edition that is more than ever focused on internationalism and sustainability, during which all industry stakeholders can firstly strike up business agreements and do some networking, but also have exclusive previews from the entire industry. The role of the Milan event, however, stretches beyond the purely commercial aspect because MIDO represents for everyone an unmissable opportunity for discussion, reflection, education, exchange and sharing of ideas, designed and aimed at opticians from all over the world.
While waiting to meet up in person at the event, we met some of the event’s protagonists. Today we give the floor to Patricia Ramo, GIGI Studios CEO.
What is your company's philosophy?
GIGI Studios is an independent company that merges design and creativity with craftsmanship. We have a free, plural view of fashion that promotes people’s unique identity. We are eclectic and avant-garde, as well as traditional and innovative.
How is your brand positioned within eyewear?
Powerful shapes inspired by the latest trends, combined with other more timeless as well as more casual ones. Our catalogue covers a wide variety of styles, and it is presented segmented into five collections: Vanguard, Men, Icons, Lab and XS. The latter is a collection that has the style and character of the brand in smaller-sized designs.
What are the core values for a cutting-edge brand?
For us, fashion and creativity are key values. A unique identity, a versatile collection and elevated aesthetics are essential for GIGI Studios. The quality of our products, noble handcrafted materials and higher technology are equally important for GIGI Studios.
How is your global presence articulated?
We have a direct net of sales in Europe with sales teams in France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. We also have a direct team of sales agents in the US and this year we are actively working in the sales strategy there. Moreover, we work with a team of XX distributors around the world in countries like Poland, Greece and Brazil amongst many others.
Why have you confirmed your presence at MIDO?
MIDO has always been a very important fair for GIGI Studios and as a company with a long story we have been assisting during more than 20 years. Each year we are coming with a bigger stand and a bigger team. This year we have 122 m2 and a team of almost 30 people between our Headquarters team and the Italian Sales Team.
What do you expect from MIDO 2023?
We have a huge number of appointments confirmed with key and strategic international partners as well as Italian key customers that have an appointment.
We also plan on having fun, as we’ll be hosting a big party on Saturday with a Top international Dj and one of the best cocktails bars from Milano. I would say it is part of the DNA of the brand to have the ability to mix work with fun and relaxed moments and fairs are the perfect occasion to enjoy some quality time with our clients and distributors.
What will you be presenting?
We will be presenting exclusively new sun and optical models from the Vanguard Collection and sunglasses from the XS Collection. The GIGI Studios Lab collection, a lightweight collection made in beta-titanium, will be also displayed there.
