On Saturday 9 and 10 September at the Stazione Leopolda of Florence, there will be the 11th edition of DaTE, where avantgarde eyewear will be revealed with its most innovative features. Many of the most creative designers will present their proposals, where inspiration and experimentation unite in futuristic visions.
While waiting for DaTE, we have interviewed some of the key players.
Today we meet Alessandra Girardi, Vice Presidente di Vanni.
What is your concept of creativity?
For Vanni, creativity in eyewear is a process that involves stylistic stimuli from the contemporary world (for us, in particular, also from the art world) and combines these with very precise design expertise. We make limited edition products. The functionality of glasses is always at the centre of their design, as is comfort and satisfying customers’ needs, for all-round visual wellbeing: from perfect vision to comfort, feeling attractive and special when wearing elegant glasses.
What vision do you want to bring to DaTE? Why have you chosen this fair again?
DaTE is a showcase of the best manufacturers in our field: a chance to meet our Italian customers in a pleasant and well-prepared environment, opening the season early and offering visitors the chance to see the collections up-close before anyone else. We continue to choose DaTE because it is not only a commercial event but also a chance to discover and reveal the most innovative trends in the industry.
How will you communicate your design strategy at DaTE?
At DaTe, Vanni will present the season’s eyewear and offer a preview of the Tandem eye glasses, metal frames with a linear shape and strong, unusual colour schemes. In the acetates, the new Highline models reveal a multi-faceted and 3D surface built on single and bi-colour solid and transparent bases, and some laminations with the brand’s famous exclusive acetates.
