Waiting for DaTE 2023: Lightbird

Written by MIDO | 08/03/2023

On Saturday 9 and 10 September at the Stazione Leopolda of Florence, there will be the 11th edition of DaTE, where avantgarde eyewear will be revealed with its most innovative features. Many of the most creative designers will present their proposals, where inspiration and experimentation unite in futuristic visions.

While waiting for DaTE, we have interviewed some of the Corrado Rosson, founder and designer of Lightbird.

What is your concept of creativity?

For me, creativity is sitting in front of a sheet of blank paper with a pen in hand, guided by an idea that arrived seconds before.

But creativity for those who, like me, are in the Made-in-Italy sector, is above all an all-consuming and ever-present way of thinking, where innovative thoughts merge with the creation of beauty.

What vision do you want to bring to DaTE? Why have you chosen this fair again?

I love DaTE because it’s a fair that emits positive energy and offers me a chance to interact with the very heart of the world of Italian eyewear, and more! Almost like magic, after the summer season, along comes this great way of starting up again.

How will you communicate your design strategy at DaTE?

By revealing the latest creations that we will present for the first time at this fair: designer frames in acetate featuring exclusive colour combinations, with contemporary shapes that can interpret the philosophy and character of the Lightbird brand. I see glasses as becoming more and more an accessory, worn to communicate your mood to the rest of the world. Eyewear is increasingly part of our total look and everyday life, and I think this aspect is really important when creating items. Lightbird collections are made up of lightweight glasses that are comfortable to wear and with strong attention to detail.
