On Saturday 9 and 10 September at the Stazione Leopolda of Florence, there will be the 11th edition of DaTE, where avantgarde eyewear will be revealed with its most innovative features. Many of the most creative designers will present their proposals, where inspiration and experimentation unite in futuristic visions.
While waiting for DaTE, we have interviewed some of the key players.
Today we meet Luca Gnecchi Ruscone, founder and CEO of L.G.R.
What is your concept of creativity?
Creativity extends beyond the simple act of creating an object: it is a concept that involves experience, research and passion. In the eyewear industry, creativity emerges in the art of transforming high quality materials into unique models, which can tell stories and induce emotion in those who wear them. My vision of creativity is based on the constant search for excellent craftsmanship and inspiration from various sources, from the natural world to the urban world, in order to create iconic designs that stand out both for their originality and timeless style.
What vision do you want to bring to DaTE? Why have you chosen this fair again?
Our vision is linked to bold and innovative experimentation, constantly searching for new shapes and forms. While in the past we focused on round and pantoscopic glasses (which always remain popular), we have now moved toward more geometric and hexagonal designs. Some sophisticated details enhance the frames (minimalist and basic in nature), giving them a unique and stylish finishing touch and making them suitable for all genders and styles.
I am delighted to present this new collection at DaTE, as this is the first event of the season and is extremely important to us. The positive turnout that we have witnessed in past years makes this fair an excellent opportunity to present our new glasses to the public.
How will you communicate your design strategy at DaTE?
L.G.R. continues to grow, remaining on a creative pathway that smoothly merges classic and contemporary style. Our adventurous spirit (inspired by Africa and its environments) is reflected in every collection, combining tradition and history with the modern world: our new models fully embody these concepts that represent the very essence of our brand.
