VEJA strengthens its partnership with Sea Shepherd
Sea Shepherd is a non-profit marine conservation organisation which, through direct action, protects all marine wildlife from the Antarctic to the Galapagos Islands, from western Africa to Europe. With a fleet of boats on the front line, it combats illegal fishing and works with local authorities to deliver poachers to the authorities. Its most recent boat, the Triton, is currently on campaign in the Baltic Sea, where the Sea Shepherd crew have already found tonnes of deadly ghost nets and illegal fishing equipment.
In 2022, the organisation set up a collaborative partnership VEJA for Sea Shepherd, resulting in the Fitz Roy sneakers, which proved highly popular and outstripped all retail expectations.
Operation Dolphin Bycatch
This year, the VEJA team has fortified the partnership, joining the Sea Shepherd crew on a boat 300 km from the coast of La Rochelle. They spent a number of days on board, thus witnessing the start of Sea Shepherd's Operation Dolphin Bycatch.
After their experience with the crew, a new all-black shoe was designed - the new VEJA X Sea Shepherd. Designed for life on board, the Fitz Roy is a technical shoe with a solid and stable sole thanks to the multi-directional crampons and Rock-Plate. The Trek-Shell upper is in recycled polyester and is water-resistant: the tightly-woven structure is treated with a durable and PFC-free water-repellent. The Rock-Plate is positioned between the 31% Amazonian rubber outsole and the 52% sugarcane midsole, providing underfoot protection against sharp objects. The L-Foam cushioned insole, made of 30% natural latex, ensures comfort and shock absorption. The shape of the sole guarantees stability and safety. 43% bio-based and recycled materials.
The whole shoe is Made in Brazil.
