Thirty-year icon
The stylised figure of a little man, which seems cut out of paper with a pair of scissors, is the recurrent motif of the “Girotondo” series created for Alessi in the late 1980s by the King-Kong duo (alias Stefano Giovannoni and Guido Venturini). An icon, which has won over the public since its debut in 1989 and marked the divide between the influential design of great masters and a communicative design adulterated by popular culture. To celebrate its thirty-years, “Girotondo” is presented in a precious edition, limited to 999 pieces, in 18/10 stainless steel with 24-gold plating. The celebratory series includes the most representative elements of the family: the Basket, the Fruit bowl and the round Tray.
Alberto Alessi states, “the objects born in this collection represent Alessi’s first step in the world of young designers and the embryonic moment of so-called playful design”.
