The debut of Valentino Eyewear optical collection

Written by MIDO | 10/03/2023

More than a year in the making, the all-new optical collection represents the next evolution of Valentino Eyewear and the Maison’s partnership with Swiss luxury eyewear specialists Akoni Group. The initial FW23 optical launch features a capsule collection of six styles in a total of eighteen colorways – to be followed by a broader SS24 offering in February 2024.

The new optical collection will be available from November 2023 at fine stores and eyewear boutiques worldwide. Styles featuring pink lenses will also be available at selected Valentino boutiques and on Valentino.com

The optical collection

The Valentino Eyewear optical collection was designed and produced to meet the technical requirements of the most demanding opticians and the quality standards of their most exclusive clients. Made in Japan to exacting standards using only the finest materials, every style in the collection – from V-STUD with its iconic metal studs conveying a subtle yet irrefutable rock 'n' roll spirit, to the less-is-more V-DAYDREAM with its ethereal design aesthetic and classic cat-eye-shape – radiates quality and clearly yet elegantly communicates the Maison’s haute couture heritage. Named in celebration of timeless Valentino design codes, core values, the Valentino Eyewear optical collection embraces the dreamy design aesthetic and graceful elegance on which the Valentino legend was built.

The words of Akoni Group CEO/Co-founder Rosario Toscano

“Sunglasses undoubtedly get more fashion press, but opticians and other eyewear industry insiders judge a collection based on the character and quality of its optical frames.Optical frames are worn indoors and out every day of the week, making them a better reflection of their wearer’s individuality and the most personal of all fashion accessories. Creating eyewear, particularly optical frames, comparable to that of the finest eyewear-only brands is a technically sophisticated challenge—with design, craftsmanship, and quality being key factors distinguishing good from great. Place of origin plays a critical role in ensuring product heritage and quality. We manufacture exclusively in Japan, a country revered for its high-end eyewear the way Switzerland is for wristwatches. Our uniquely skilled and experienced craftspeople use only the finest materials (Japanese acetate and titanium) and a combination of traditional and innovative production techniques and technologies to create eyewear that’s beautiful, comfortable, and will provide years of use and enjoyment.”
