Day 2 offered us moments dedicated to training, information, fashion and beauty, culture and interactions, and ended with the MIDO Awards ceremony!
Today, the well-known MIDO BeStore Award was given to two optical centers that stood out for Design and Innovation: Anaïs Murith’s LENETA - Concept Store Optique (Bulle, Switzerland), for its very smart combination of beauty, retro allure, contemporary aesthetics and responsible sales; and Vitor Martins’ Ótica Maxivisão (Vila Nova de Poiares, Portugal) bothfor its strong social commitment - through several solidarity missions in five countries - and its focus on environmental protection.
The Stand Up For Green Award for the most sustainable booth was presented to CSO (Costruzione Strumenti Oftalmici), an Italian company whose booth was designed in keeping with the circular use of materials and elements such as plants, LED walls and American beams, highlighting the company's commitment to adopting eco-friendly solutions.
Below the six winners of the CSE - Certified Sustainable Eyewear – Award, created by MIDO in collaboration with ANFAO and Certottica, to assess sustainability in the global eyewear industry.
The Cases Rest of the World Award was presented to Exploris Asia Limited (China) for AQUA, a 100% mono-material case such as rPET, which guarantees the most efficient recycling circuit and significant savings in the event of repeated recycling.
The Cases Europe Award went to LLEXAN ITALIA (Italy) for BABE 24, a 100% recycled case, made from three different materials: grape-based vegan leather, recycled PS on the inside, and "Riessere Unici," a recycled acetate patented by Llexan Italia.
The Frames Rest of the World Award was given to NEWAY MACAO’s Natura (Macao), a frame that impressed the jury for the use of acetate for sustainable spectacles -- made from completely biodegradable organic materials.
TOMMY HILFIGER by Safilo (Italy) won the Frames Europe Award, with a frame made from Renew Acetate and recycled demo lenses. More than 95% of the acetate waste is recycled.
The Sunglasses Rest of the World Award went to LONGCHAMP by Marchon (United States), for its bio-based sunglasses containing raw materials extracted from plants, starting with castor oil.
Lastly, the Sunglasses Europe Award was presented to ROLF (Austria) for its 100% bio- and plant-based sunglasses featuring 3-D printed frames, made from castor bean powder, and colored threads made from ebio-based materials.
