Safilo's "phase 2"

Safilo is implementing multiple control and prevention measures in response to the current situation, following all safety procedures throughout the entire supply chain, from its manufacturing sites to the distribution network. Its aim is to protect its people and products, now and for the future, while, at the same time, striving to ensure seamless operations and business continuity to support its customers and minimize any impact. 

1. How the group is protecting people and its products in its manufacturing plants: 

To protect the health and safety of its workers and to ensure business continuity in compliance with all safety protocols, the company hasput in place dedicated prevention measures: 

  • strict hygiene measures and regular sanitization of working spaces and facilities; 
  •  increased cleaning in “high contact” areas;
  •  supply of safety masks and hand gloves to all its workers;
  • free masks supplied to all workers using public transport to travel to work; 
  • safety distance measures in place;
  •  posters promoting hand-washing and hygiene protocol;
  • alcohol-based hand sanitizers in multiple locations to encourage hand hygiene;
  • staggered shift start/stop-times, break-times, and lunch-times to minimize gathering sof workers. 

2. What we are doing for our customers 

  • the company continues to provide uninterrupted service, taking orders 24/7 online via our B2B website, and via its customer service centre;
  • the group has been offering a series of well-received virtual training seminars on a variety of topics, from brand and product training to visual merchandising and eyewear technology, and will continue to make these available to its customers;
  • the company continues to stay connected with its customers, providing regular updates and free online learning resources with the hashtag #wearehereforyou;
  • Safilo is providing PPE, such as safety masks, hand gloves and disinfectant spray to our sales force and to its showroom staff in addition to important guidelines on compliance measures for the reopening of businesses. 

3. How the company is protecting its office workers and its commercial subsidiaries

  • Its top concern is ensuring the health and safety of its employees. In all its offices, commercial subsidiaries and distribution centres, it has implemented all safety procedures and hygiene protocols; 
  • the group distributed PPE, such as safety masks and hand gloves for its workers, and implemented hygiene measures across its operations worldwide;
  • the company worked to support and extend remote working solutions for the vast majority of its office staff, using laptops, remote phone systems and video technology to remain engaged with internal partners and customers. 

4. How Safilo is supporting its communities 

  • the company recently launched #united4eycare, Safilo’s global corporate initiative that embraces all the activities put in place in different countries and its brands for the production and donation of safety glasses, goggles and face shields for health care professionals; 
  • the group repurposed a portion of its manufacturing to produce safety glasses and facial shields to be supplied to hospitals and frontline medical workers in critical need around the world.
