Safilens rallies to help the Ukraine population.
Safilens is a company sensitive to charitable projects and, after offering its support to doctors and nurses during the early stages of the 2020 Covid pandemic, it has now decided to support the population in war-torn Ukraine. During April and May 2022, the company will donate a percentage of its turnover to the Ucraina-Friuli Cultural Association. The association, founded in Udine in 2006 with cross-cultural goals, is currently managing the organisation and logistics of humanitarian aid for its compatriots. Aid is distributed via the hub in Udine’s Città Fiera to the various Ukraine regions, not only with privately-owned trucks and vans but also with coaches that bring war refugees to Italy and then re-depart full of humanitarian supplies.
Daniele Bazzocchi, General Manager of Safilens, commented on the project: “In our province, an exceptional solidarity network has been set up: transport and logistics companies, working together along with manufacturing and institutional businesses, like Città Fiera, have promptly networked to collect and distribute humanitarian supplies. Here at Safilens it simply seemed right and proper to do our bit, choosing to support an association that has been active in our region for over fifteen years. Initially, we are providing economic aid linked to primary needs as well as the significant issue of transport costs; it may be that later we can offer direct support to optical stores in the areas welcoming Ukraine refugees. We also invite our clients (many of whom have already taken action in this case) to evaluate the option of participating in the many charitable initiatives that have sprung up nationwide or, if they prefer, to contact Safilens which is offering itself as a collector and link with the Ucraina-Friuli association”.
