Safilens, has appointed Ian McDermott as Country Manager for the UK market. Highly specialized and goal-oriented, McDermott has a proven pharmaceutical and optical track record in the medical devices sector, having held top positions in companies like CooperVision, Aspect Vision Care, Sauflon Pharmaceuticals and Avizor UK Ltd. In his new role, he will manage the initial 4-person UK sales team and work to strengthen existing customer care and warehouse services at the Safilens UK subsidiary in Marden (Kent). Safilens General Manager, Daniele Bazzocchi, comments: “I am pleased to welcome Ian to our team. I have no doubt his solid background in the UK optical market will enable him to guide our strategy in the country, further strengthening our customer relations and expanding our market share by leveraging the values of quality and innovation that set Safilens apart. Great Britain has long been a key market for us because it understands and appreciates the added value of our products”, continues Bazzocchi. “Since our products are already available in the country (primarily in big chains, like Boots Opticians), we would also like to provide the level of service and customer care here that already differentiates us in other countries, as our dedicated, knowledgeable and determined sales force targets independents and local groups”. Official presentation of the new UK sales team led by McDermott will take place at the forthcoming edition of BCLA, to be held in Manchester May 30 to June 1.
