The Red Dot Award: Product Design recognizes the best products for a given year and is one of three Red Dot award disciplines that date as far back as 1955. With more than 18,000 entries, the Red Dot Award is one of the world’s largest and most recognized design competitions. Since CEO Professor Dr. Peter Zec developed the name and Red Dot brand in the 1990s, the highly sought after “Red Dot” has been the international seal of outstanding design quality.

For the 2021 competition, the roughly 50 international expert jurors were once again true to the motto “In search of good design and innovation.” They scrutinized the entries in a process that spanned several days, and were guided by assessment criteria such as the product’s formal quality and longevity.

With memory plastic and inventive details, Modo’s winning R 1000 + Titanium frames are super-light and flexible. The collection uses durable and adaptable materials with thoughtful construction to provide the perfect balance of technique and aesthetics.

The latest releases keep the collection on the cutting edge of lightweight and resilient eyewear with features like hidden screwless hinges, a new dual-layered coloring technique, and PVD coating technology for a shiny finish on the Beta-titanium temples.

R 1000 + Titanium will be included in the Red Dot website’s online exhibition beginning 21 June. This date also marks the start of Red Dot Design Week, when the collection will be exhibited in the Red Dot Design Museum Essen and showcased with all award-winning products amongst contemporary design solutions and historical industrial architecture.

The Red Dot Design Yearbook 2021/2022 will release in August and will provide a comprehensive overview of the state-of-the-art and trends in product design.
