Persol and Netflix have unveiled the three models that make up the eyewear line created to celebrate the release of the miniseries Senna, one of the most awaited premieres of the year. Set to debut on Netflix on November 29, 2024, it is the first series about the legendary Formula 1 driver Ayrton Senna, played by Brazilian actor Gabriel Leone. The series tells the story of Senna's life, career, and legacy, showcasing an unparalleled talent. The six episodes follow the memorable journey through his victories, disappointments, joys, sorrows, and personal relationships, revealing the great personality that inspired the new Persol models.
Celebrated for his indomitable spirit and exceptional talent on the track, Ayrton Senna served as the inspiration for Persol’s new collection, which is also enriched with archival details that reflect his unique essence. The new models are not just accessories but a tribute to a man whose legacy continues to inspire generations. The acetate sweat-bar bridge, reminiscent of the '80s, blends with the modern, elegant, and minimalist lines of the frames, complemented by the iconic Supreme Arrow and the Meflecto system. The palette reflects Senna's charisma, offering classic tones such as black, havana, and striped brown.
The Models
One of the models, the "0PO0202S," reinterprets the classic sunglasses worn by the driver. The pilot profile features the Persol logo on the temples and a sweat-bar bridge that accentuates its sporty character. The color palette, available in black, havana, and striped brown, is designed to evoke the adrenaline of the circuit. The lenses come in various options: polarized black, or blue and green, available in both classic and polarized versions.
The "0PO0203S," bold and original, are designed to embody Senna's spirit. These square sunglasses evoke a vintage design and stand out with their acetate sweat-bar bridge featuring a gold or silver bar. The look is completed by the Meflecto system and the signature silver Supreme Arrow. A blend of classic and contemporary, this model is available in black, havana, and striped brown, with polarized black lenses, or blue and green lenses, offered in both classic and polarized versions.
Lastly, the "0PO0204V" is a pair of square prescription glasses with an acetate frame, featuring a sleek silhouette reminiscent of the ones Senna loved to wear. The metal double bridge, slim temples, Meflecto system, and Persol Arrow complete the look of this timeless model, available in black, havana, and striped brown, with elegant metal details.
Senna: The Upcoming Miniseries on Netflix
Produced by Gullane and created in collaboration with Senna Brands and the driver's family, the series follows the racing career of the three-time Formula 1 champion. From his early karting days to leaving home to compete in Formula Ford in England, the story culminates in the tragic accident at Imola during the San Marino Grand Prix. Vicente Amorim is the showrunner, general director, and lead director, with Julia Rezende as director.
