Oakley undertakes a new project that plunges into the brand’s origins, and with the theme of a better tomorrow: the platform Future Genesis. Starting from the protagonist of a 1992 video, Max Fearlight, two short films have been created that take viewers back to the world created for the original movie. To show the link between past and future, the short films concentrate on the characters of a father and daughter. In fact, fans of the first film will immediately recognise Max Fearlight and the bunker where he began his exploration of the unknown.
Max represents the past, a dystopian vision that permeates throughout everything that Oakley presented to the world. Thanks to Future Genesis, Max undertakes a transformational path, driven by the new brand protagonist: Maxine Fearlight, a girl intent on creating her own legacy. Maxine represents the dream of a prototypical future for the brand, a splendour that shines through Oakley and its partners’ work, resulting in products that could almost be defined as extraterrestrial forms rising up as a form of art, and advertising campaigns that seem to come from another universe.
The glasses selected for the short films also have another purpose. Max wears Medusa, a product from the archives is brought back as the perfect digital concept to accompany our hero in his endeavours in the virtual world.
A world that is reflected also in our own: during 2024, in fact, the sunglasses 13:11, inspired by those which Maxine wears in the trailer, will become a reality available in physical stores.
These teasers are just the first in a series of videos that Oakley will publish in the next few years to celebrate its 50th anniversary.
