The Acetate Rings concept of the Mykita Lite collection relies on a meticulous, multi-step process whereby slender acetate loops are precision-milled and fitted inside closed 0.6-milli- metre thin stainless steel rims.
The mixed material construction and its aesthetic convinced members of the Red Dot Design jury, who named optical model Elgards a winner in the product design category: “Elgard combines the advantages of an acetate and a metal frame,” reads the official statement of the jury. “These well-proportioned glasses offer a high level of comfort”.
The optical model develops this concept further by featuring a complete acetate frame front that is fitted inside the steel rims from the front. Noticeable only on closer look, the steel ‘skeleton’ of the mixed material construction adds resilience to the delicate acetate front.
