Mykita opens a brand store in Bangkok
Mykita opens the doors to its long-awaited brand store in the Thai capital. Situated in the Sindhorn village development in the city’s cosmopolitan Pathum Wan district, the Mykita Shop Bangkok brings the clear design language, handcrafted products and high-tech aesthetic of the Berlin-based global eyewear brand to one of Southeast Asia’s most dynamic and vibrant centres.
“The Bangkok shop opening is a natural step for the brand given our longstanding and rewarding relationship with the city, our local team, and not least, our loyal customer base,” says the company founder Moritz Krueger. “We feel a strong connection to the authentic, positive nature of this urban culture that shares our values and appreciates original, modern design. We welcome residents and visitors alike to our new home in Pathum Wan to experience the world of Mykita in its entirety”.
Inside the intimate ground-level space, ready-made industrial elements meet with custom- designed furniture and mirrored walls interspersed with green foliage. Developed by the Mykita in-house architectural team, the interior concept presents a compelling clash of textures and surfaces: a high-tech urban jungle ambiance that gives a nod to the mesmerising contrasts of the Bangkok metropolis itself.
Pale green provides a unifying element for the interior, used on the expanded metal ceiling, eyewear storage trolleys and the metal detailing on the oak furniture. The signature white Mykita Waa provides the central feature of the shop with the eyewear models of the current collection on display. On approaching the shop, the entrance to the in-store optical lab is already visible through the floor-to-ceiling glass front, providing a showcase for the dis- tinctive mix of handcraft and high technology that defines the brand’s modern manufactory.
