MADE IN ITALY EXCELS AT SILMO D'OR 2024

MADE IN ITALY EXCELS AT SILMO D'OR 2024

Among the winners: Out Of, De Rigo Vision, EssilorLuxottica, and VANNI

The highly anticipated SILMO d’Or awards ceremony, which this year marked its 30th edition, took place at the stunning Carrousel du Louvre in Paris on Saturday, September 21. Once again, the excellence, technological innovation, and craftsmanship typical of Made in Italy stood out.

Out Of won the award in the “Sport” category with "Acuity," a model capable of correcting a wide range of visual impairments, offering exceptional visual clarity. The Acuity ophthalmic lenses are at the heart of its revolutionary design: unlike market standards, they are cut from a single piece of material, ensuring precise and uniform correction of visual disorders and delivering an extremely high level of performance.

In the Optical Frame “Brands & Labels” category, Nina Ricci shone with "SNR403 couleur 7G6" (De Rigo Vision). This oversized acetate model features an iconic vintage shape where past and present merge, thanks to geometric temples that balance the rounded front. With the grosgrain pattern visible on the inside and the “Nina Ricci” logo decorating the left temple, they are available in a gradient color option and are inspired by the famous Nina Ricci model worn by Jacqueline Kennedy.

Ray-Ban Meta with AI by EssilorLuxottica received the award in “Technological Innovations in Eyewear”: this new generation of smart glasses, born from the partnership with Meta, will be further enriched with artificial intelligence features starting in October 2024, offering both visual correction and protection alongside the iconic Ray-Ban style.

Lastly, VANNI won the Responsible Company Prize, becoming the first Italian company in the eyewear sector to become a “Benefit Corporation” in 2021. VANNI has demonstrated its ability to monitor its social, environmental, and corporate CSR performance. Moreover, the company asks employees to evaluate its performance in various areas through a survey. Additionally, 100% of VANNI’s staff participated in training modules on sustainable development (ranging from 5 to 22 hours per employee). In 2023/2024, the company underwent internal reorganization guided by an occupational psychologist to more clearly define roles and responsibilities and better respond to employee needs. Deeply rooted in the local community, VANNI also supports numerous local organizations in Turin and Piedmont. A Cradle-to-Gate Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) has allowed the company to make several changes to limit the environmental impact of its products.
