Louis Vuitton and Murakami: 20 years of style celebrated with Zendaya
Louis Vuitton and Japanese artist Takashi Murakami are celebrating 20 years of their partnership with a new edition of the Louis Vuitton x Murakami collection. This reimagining of the iconic 2003 Monogram Multicolor merges Murakami's artistry with the modern innovation and exceptional craftsmanship of the Maison. Zendaya, a symbol of elegance and modernity, has been chosen to front the advertising campaign, perfectly embodying the contemporary spirit of the collection.
Originally spearheaded by Marc Jacobs, this collaboration revolutionized the fashion world by introducing a bold and vibrant reinterpretation of the Monogram. The collection features over 200 items, including bags, scarves, jewelry, sunglasses, shoes, and perfumes, all infused with Murakami’s distinctive energy and creativity.
To mark the launch, Milan has been transformed into a moving art stage. Historic trams from the 1920s, adorned with the Monogram Multicolor, have been converted into a cinema and literary café, offering visitors a unique experience that blends Japanese tradition with Italian style.
The celebration continues in Rome, where the Cinema Spazio Etoile hosts a retrospective of Murakami’s Superflat universe, screening the short films “Superflat Monogram” and “Superflat First Love.” These films immerse viewers in a world of vivid colors and kawaii characters, showcasing the artist’s unique aesthetic.
This collection is not just a tribute to the past but a bridge between eras, uniting tradition, innovation, and art. Louis Vuitton thus honors an enduring creative bond, reaffirming the Monogram Multicolor as an eternal symbol of style and innovation.
