Fashion reflects on design through pleating technology
The Homme Plissé Issey Miyake SS 2024 collection - Everyday, One of a Kind, Now and Hereafter – develops around a reflection on the brand's original design and making, deriving from garment pleating technology.
The collection embarks on a process that explores the quintessence of the brand. The result is a variety of new garments with simple silhouettes in a fresh colour palette. A collection made up of items designed and made for everyday life, fully expressing the philosophy of Homme Plissé Issey Miyake, made possible by the purity and technology of the brand.
The presentation runway show, held last year at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, wanted to reintroduce the concept of "pleating" by opening with a large roll of pleated paper unrolled down the gallery of the museum. Once the garments wrapped in the pleated roll were unveiled, the design team entered the catwalk to dress the models. By including part of the pleating process within the set design, the performance showcased the great potential of this technology.
