An innovative and sustainable space representing the brand’s renaissance
Since the establishment of his eponymous brand in 1978, Alain Mikli has been creating eyewear that combines quality and timeless design. Giving these functional accessories, which are true medical devices, a strong aesthetic while defending the expertise of eyewear is what the French artistic director highlights today in his new boutique on rue des Saints-Pères in Paris.
“It’s a place designed like a treasure chest,” explains the artistic director. “Not only does it represent a revolution in the field of optics, thanks to its innovative design and high-quality services, but it also embodies the brand's renaissance while remaining true to its core values of innovation, excellence, and expertise.”
The brand has always aimed to create eyewear that not only improves vision but also serves as a stylish accessory, featuring innovative and distinctive frames. By collaborating with major designers like Jean Paul Gaultier and Thierry Mugler, Mikli glasses have walked the international runways, enhancing the aesthetic of silhouettes with their bold and dramatic design.
In the 1990s, the brand introduced a new creative direction, with more technical and comfortable models, such as the "Starck Eyes" line, in collaboration with designer Philippe Starck. This marked an evolution toward highly functional eyewear, with great attention to comfort and technological innovation. Collaborations with artists and celebrities like Elton John and Kanye West have solidified the brand's iconic status over the decades.
Located at 74 rue des Saints-Pères in the heart of Paris, the new Alain Mikli boutique reopened on June 24, 2024. Entirely made from recycled materials through 3D printing, this space features a unique and sustainable design. “Definitely future-oriented, this new space stands out for the uniqueness of its design, entirely created in 3D printing by Nagami, a renowned Spanish workshop. It perfectly combines customer experience with environmental commitment. The decorative elements in 3D are made from 100% recycled and infinitely recyclable materials. A technical feat that required 3,500 hours of printing using 16 robotic arms and 4,000 kg of recycled plastic.”
In addition to selling contemporary eyewear, the boutique also offers exclusive archive models, celebrating the brand's history while keeping an eye on continuous evolution.
