Rudy Project in the Volvo Ocean Race

Rudy Project has signed a partnership with the ocean racing syndicate team AkzoNobel for the Volvo Ocean Race 2017-18. As the team’s official eyewear supplier, the company provides team AkzoNobel with top-of the-line sunglasses featuring state-of-the-art lens technology. The team will be wearing Rudy Project ’s brand new Sintryx, Airgrip and Spinhawk sunglasses. All three models include Rudy Project’s exclusive Polar 3FX HDR polarized lenses which are specifically fine-tuned to eliminate glare and enhance contrast.

“Team AkzoNobel is racing across oceans and facing some of the world most extreme weather condition for nine months” says Simone Barbazza, Rudy Project’s Chief Marketing Officer. “Our company mission is to elevate athlete performance and for us it is crucial to supply the team with the most advanced products we can offer. We’re proud that our technology will be helping team AkzoNobel to compete at the highest level in such an exciting and tough challenge as the Volvo Ocean Race”.

Team AkzoNobel skipper Simeon Tienpont – a two-time America’s Cup winner and renowned international yachtsman – said the Rudy Project sunglasses made a major contribution to the team’s Volvo Ocean Race campaign. “Ocean racing is one of the world’s most challenging sports and particularly punishing on the sailors’ eyes,” Tienpont said. “Our Rudy Project’s sunglasses stand up well in the toughest of conditions, are comfortable to wear, and help protect our eyes from the wind and the harsh glare of the sun out on the open ocean”.
