A prize for "Ettore"
Pianca – a Made in Italy furnishings company – has won the prestigious Good Design Award thanks to “Ettore”, a table designed by Fabio Calvi and Paolo Brambilla of the Calvi Brambilla design studio.
Loosely inspired by the work of Sottsass, the project is a sculptural composition of simple, superimposed shapes: an elegant totem whose central leg seems to be suspended above the mirror-finish base. The Award was assigned by the Chicago Athenaeum for its aesthetic and design qualities.
Among the world’s most important prizes in the field of industrial design, the Good Design Award was first set up in 1950 based on an idea by Edgar Kaufmann Jr, curator and founder of the Museum of Modern Art, Chicago.
