Roy Lichtenstein inspires Sagmeister & Walsh
For the campaign of the new Middle Eastern luxury department store, Aizone, New York designers Stefan Sagmeister and Jessica Walsh were inspired by Roy Lichtenstein’s pop art. The result is not unlike a cartoon that comes to life thanks to the use of bright fluorescent lamps, bold geometrical shapes, models wearing heroines’ clothes and hairstyles, mixed with twodimensional and very colorful backdrops. “We got the idea when we started thinking about the concept of design and illustration and how they frequently try to represent reality in only two dimensions” Walsh explained. “So we turned this thought around and made reality appear like an illustration”.
