Uvex awarded 2007 'Brand of the Year' by Deutsche Skiverband

In 2007, Uvex was awarded 'Brand of the Year' by Deutsche Skiverband (DSV, the German Skiing Federation), and the Uvex sports glasses were voted 'Gear of the Year' by readers of the 'outdoor' specialist magazine.

Although Univex is considerably internationalized, it has remained true to its production site in Germany and will remain so also in the future. With an investment of Euro four million in 2007, it's primary task was to expand the production site at Lederdorn in the Bavarian Forest, where eye protection glasses for work, ski goggles, sports eyewear and ski helmets have been produced for almost 40 years. At Obernzell in November 2007 a production expansion project was also completed at a cost of Euro 2.4 million.

Management stated that 'In the overview of our company we have stated that we aim to achieve a position of leadership for innovation and therefore create value-oriented growth throughout the world. The 'Made in Germany' seal of quality represents product safety and quality and contributes to the long-term consolidation of our market positioning.' 'Made in Germany' innovations and production are a strategy for success. In the past five years, the production of ski helmets alone has grown by over 400%. In the eye protection sector, the slogan that was coined in the Sixties is still valid today: 'Uvex means ski goggles', but its expertise is evident in all winter sports sectors.
