Two-figure growth for Salmoiraghi & Viganò

At March 31 the eyewear group Salmoiraghi & Viganò ended the first semester of financial year 2007/2008 with billings of over Euro 86.7 million (+26.7% compared to the first semester 2006/2007) and EBITDA of Euro 13 million.

Of the company's three chains, Salmoiraghi & Viganò had the biggest turnover (Euro 67 million), followed by Vistasi (17 million) and Spacciocchiali (2.7 million). From a distribution point of view, with new openings and acquisition plans the group had 436 outlets in the first semester 2008 against 398 stores at September 30 last year: 289 Salmoiraghi & Viganò outlets (226 direct and 63 subsidiaries), 130 Vistasi and 17 Spacciocchiali.

The company also signed a partnership agreement with Angiolucci Lunettes 1948 of Sicily for a new company that came into operation June 1, 2008. It involves the 16 Angiolucci Lunettes 1948 stores and 14 Salmoiraghi & Viganò outlets (six of which are subsidiaries) on the Island. The 30 stores are located on the shopping streets in the centers of the main cities and in major malls.

"The south is an area in which we intend to make sizeable investments in the coming years', explained group president Dino Tabacchi. 'We are convinced that the growth margins in these regions are still interesting for our business so we are aiming at greater spread and dominance through new outlets and partnerships with local businesses. These objectives are part of an even more ambitious, but totally achievable, plan which will give the Salmoiraghi & Viganò Group 800 outlets in the next three years".
