New products with Proclear label

As part of an exciting project to develop its product portfolio, CooperVision is about to launch a wider range of lenses with the Proclear label. Made with CooperVision's advanced PC Technology, the new products offer anyone with ametropia greater comfort and replacement frequency. The XR versions in the Proclear range will include the world's first multifocal toric lenses for monthly replacement (Proclear Multifocal Toric), and wearers will be able to choose from over 500-thousand combinations of different parameters.

A recent pan-European survey carried out by CooperVision showed that 46% of lens wearers would like to reduce eye dryness, whereas 26% wants more comfortable lenses. The survey also showed that the biggest problem associated with wearing lenses is the falloff in comfort as the day progresses. CooperVision's PC Technology guarantees superior comfort thanks to its re-hydrating properties and this increased performance is also available to patients with strong prescriptions.

Stuart Cockerill, the EMEA Marketing Manager at CooperVision, explained why the new range was launched: 'At the moment, many contact lens wearers with strong or more complex prescriptions cannot wear monthly lenses. When our research showed how important comfort is for wearers throughout the region, and given the continuous requests from wearers for more practicality and flexibility in their everyday life, we wanted to offer as many wearers as possible the option to try the increased comfort of Proclear with the additional advantage of monthly replacement.'

Because they incorporate PC Technology, Proclear lenses offer wearers greater comfort and better eye health. This technology is based on phosphorylcholine (PC), a natural substance found in the membrane of human cells which allows adjacent cells to coexist without creating a biological reaction. CooperVision produces a synthetic derivative of PC and uses it in all the lenses in the Proclear range. It is precisely this technology that gives the lenses their high moisture content, which translates into greater comfort for the wearer.

John Rogers, head of Clinical Affairs at CooperVision, explained the advantages of 'PC Technology' for contact lens wearers: 'The extraordinary PC Technology means that the range of Proclear lenses is highly resistant to deposits of lipids and proteins, an aspect that gives the material 59-62% moisture content and a low dehydration rate. Thanks to this, the lenses also have high oxygen permeability throughout the day and provide the wearer with a healthier lens. This technology keeps Proclear lenses moist, soft and comfortable for longer.'

The Proclear XR range includes parameters in addition to those of Proclear Sphere, Proclear Toric and Proclear Multifocal and therefore wearers can have spherical correction of up to -20.00, a -5.75 cylinder or a +4.00 addition.
