London Fashion Week

London Fashion Week

The British Fashion Council has published the calendar for the next London Fashion Week from Friday, February 20 through Wednesday 25.

There are numerous new entries and, for the moment at least, no significant absences. The event will include the presentation of the new collections by leading British stylists, from Vivienne Westwood, with the Red Label line on the evening of February 21, to Paul Smith and Luella, Aquascutum, Jaeger London and Nicole Farhi. Also on the runway will be the proposals from rising stars in British fashion, such as Giles, Marios Schwab, Christopher Kane, Louise Goldin and Roksanda Ilincic, Charles Anastase and Peter Pilotto.

The new entries include Mary Kantrantzou, the Greek stylist whose creations are sold by Colette in Paris, Joyce in Hong Hong and Penelope, Luisa Via Roma, Biffi, Banner, Tessabit and Bernardelli in Italy. Making a debut also is Kinder Aggugini, the label by Italy’s Paolo Aggugini who has worked for John Galliano, Vivienne Westwood, Paul Smith, Calvin Klein and Gianni Versace.

Also on the scene are Mark Fast, the young Canadian who specializes in knitwear, hat designer Nasir Mazhar and Twelve8Twelve, the collection created by actress Sienna Miller and her sister, Savannah. Making an appearance for the first time in the official calendar are Kisa London, the brand founded in 2006 by Maia Tarkhan-Mouravi and Alex Iselev, Go By A Secret Path, the Eun Jeong Hong label and winner of the first Fashion Fringe 2008 award, and Topshop Unique, the premium line by the famous British retailer. Allegra Hicks, Temperley London and Emma Cook will not be there.

Also new to London Fashion Week, which will be celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2009, is the On/Off fashion location. The satellite event will be held at the Science Museum close to LFS’s official site.
