Fashion and Design take center stage in London

From New York City to London: the event that began yesterday in London and will end September 19 shone the spotlight on new proposals from the big names in British fashion and also on emerging talents.

Major appointments that are about to begin include the two shows by Vivienne Westwood, who will today launch Catwalk Breakdown, an eclectic musical compilation with numbers ranging from Mae West to Offenbach. On Thursday 18, she'll present the collection in the new Red Label line.

Then it will be the turn of Stella McCartney, who will appear tomorrow with the new sportswear proposals created in collaboration with Adidas. Spotlights also on Aquascutum,Luella , Jaeger London and Mulberry.

There are also many appointments in the social calendar, such as the cocktail parties for the opening of the menswear boutiques by Dolce&Gabbana, Lanvin and Dunhill.

But at this time London isn't just fashion, it's also design. From September 13 through 23, the British capital will host the 'London Design Festival', ten days devoted entirely to new expressions in design.

Over 200 events will take place, mainly close to strategically situated hubs like Brick Lane, Somerset House, Brompton Cross in Kensington and the Festival Hall on the south bank of the Thames.
