Upshot and Bollé on board the One Shot Alfa Spider

A Spider can't be called a Spider unless it has spirit and …. is in the open air.

Alfa Romeo, the main sponsor of the catamaran One Shot, which is ready to set sail for the Cat Challenge 2006, is a timeless myth, a guarantee of performance, even when sailing on the sea. But all of the companies chosen as technical suppliers have to meet the same characteristics of quality and technological ability.
And indeed the Bushnell Performance Optics Group is appearing more and more frequently as a technical supplier for sports firms, in the field of sailing, as well as in other fields, alongside important names.

Bollé and Bushnell are ready to set sail for a new adventure with the catamaran One Shot Alfa Spider: it is indeed an extraordinary group of firms for a catamaran that certainly deserves its name 'spider'; fast, agile and super-technological, built in January 2006 to make a dream come true: beat the Atlantic Ocean crossing record, from Dakar to Guadalupe.

At the helm will be the Sardinian skipper, Roberto Aversano, who will have to face the perils of the crossing by himself, attempting to finish in a time of under 13 days, 13 hours, 58 minutes and 27 seconds.

An undertaking that expresses freedom, courage, concentration and the desire to push further, beyond one's own strength. On his journey, Aversano will be accompanied by Bollé and Bushnell, brands that have always been chosen by those who love adventure and life outdoors, now the technical supplier for this tremendous feat.

Officially presented to the press and TV on 10 September, with an event organized by the main sponsor Alfa Romeo, One Shot Alfa Spider was launched on Saturday 30 September, at the port of Cala Gavetta (La Maddalena - Sassari), before the local authorities, press, TV, sponsors….and Roberto Aversano's fellow countrymen and supporters, who will be left holding their breath following his departure, which is planned for December.

Extreme sailing enthusiasts and those who are simply curious can admire One Shot Alfa Spider in a few days at the Boat Show in Genoa, from 7 to 15 October.

During his many hours of sailing, Aversano will be accompanied by Bollè's Upshot sunglasses, an essential traveling companion for protecting against the sun, wind and sprays of water thanks to their innovative technology.

Upshot glasses are curved (base 8) guaranteeing protection at the sides, which is essential when practicing sport.

The metal side pieces can be folded and adjusted behind the ears for an excellent fit. The nose pieces and sleeves in Thermogrip prevent the glasses from slipping. Roberto Aversano will wear Upshot glasses with polarized lenses, with a high quality film to prevent reflections by eliminating the glare, for sharper and clearer vision, without tiring the eyes.

And that's not all: Aversano will be able to count on 2 extremely high precision, optical instruments, crucial for sailing in conditions that can become very difficult from one minute to the next: the 7x50 Marine binoculars, with a built-in compass and a Prowler 2x24 night visor by Bushnell, the unquestionable sector leader.

The Prowler visor given to Aversano is one of the most versatile, first generation night visors by Bushnell. The particularly effective light accumulation technology, and the built-in, infra-red illuminators, ensure surprisingly clear vision, even in the darkest light. Compact, light, waterproof: essential for safety at night in the most difficult conditions.
