The latest from Transitions Optical 2006
From February Transitions Optical will be giving all its variable color lenses the patented V technology with Enhanced Scientific Performance (ESP), in other words, an exclusive mix of photochromic pigments that will allow all lenses, with any index and geometry, to be perfectly clear and transparent indoors, to darken quickly in sunlight and to return just as quickly to the totally transparent state.
Today, all variable color lenses in the Transitions V range, from index 1.50 to 1.67, available in gray and brown and in all possible geometries (progressive, monofocal, etc.), offer:
- 100% blockage of UVA and UVB rays, therefore maximum eye protection and the prevention of many disorders, such as macular degeneration or cataract;
- improved contrast and optimization of vision quality: photochromic Transitions V allow just the right amount of light to reach the eyes;
- increased vision comfort, due to the reduction in glare: superior performance is also obtained if they are combined with an anti-reflection coating.
All over the world, sector professionals have responded positively to the adoption of V technology with ESP for the entire range of Transitions photochromic lenses. A recent survey carried out by Transitions on a group of European opticians from July through September 2005 gave more than positive indications about the level of satisfaction with the lenses' characteristics (level of transparency, darkening outdoors, darkening speed and return to the clear state and so on), but also with the effectiveness of V technology with ESP in counteracting glare, reducing eye strain, and in guaranteeing comfort in all situations (from watching television to computer work, to outdoor activities).
Transitions V photochromic lenses are shatterproof and have been given the Seal of Acceptance by the World Council of Optometry (WCO), one of the most prestigious international institutions in the sector, as they effectively block out 100% of the dangerous UVA and UVB rays, the main causes of many eye disorders.
