Positive results for the eyewear district workshop

Extremely positive results for the commercial workshop held in Venice on 29 and 30 September in the splendid setting of the 'Scuola Grande di San Giovanni Evangelista' by the eyewear district, the Veneto Region and the Foreign Office of the Veneto Chambers of Commerce.

Bilateral meetings took place between 17 eyewear businesses, mostly from Assindustria Belluno (Cafiero S.r.l. from Limana, Da Rold&Barp S.r.l. from Sospirolo, Demenego S.r.l. from Calalzo di Cadore, Di Esse S.r.l. from Domegge di Cadore, Fedon Giorgio & Figli S.p.A. from Valesella di Cadore, G.B. S.r.l. from Auronzo di Cadore, Gatto Astucci S.r.l. from Domegge di Cadore, I.O.V.E.S. S.p.A. from Lozzo di Cadore, Ital-Lenti S.r.l. from Puos d'Alpago, Metal Dream S.r.l. from Vigo di Cadore, Reflex S.r.l. from Sospirolo, Revert S.r.l. from Belluno, Sover S.r.l. from Soverzene, Thema Optical S.r.l. from Domegge di Cadore, Trenti Industria Occhiali S.r.l. from Perarolo, Trevi Coliseum S.p.A. from Longarone and Visibilia S.p.A. from Marghera) and 25 importers from all over Europe (Spain, Austria, Belgium, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Slovakia, Malta, Turkey, Hungary and Russia) and particularly from the East, which is showing an increasing demand for fashion and quality Italian goods.

'The results were excellent' - comments Valter Da Rin President of Sipao (Section for Industries Producing Articles for Eyewear of Assindustria Belluno) - 'the formula was particularly effective because all of the meetings were conducted properly, within the fixed times and with adequate space for the commercial negotiations. The eyewear manufacturers were particularly satisfied because in two days they were able to meet a large number of reasonable-sized, reliable buyers; relations were renewed with distributors that the businesses had worked with some years previously, signaling that the economy is picking up again in Europe too. More importantly, the East proved to be a growing market: the demand for Made in Italy has increased. Good contacts were made, laying the foundations for future relations at this particular time. The results were also positive from a commercial point of view: several orders were collected for sampling and projects, which will subsequently be confirmed and concretized at Silmo Paris, the next international fair on the agenda from 27 to 30, or during manufacturers' visits to the distributors' - stresses the president of Eyewear of Assindustria Belluno. These claims are also confirmed by the presence, today, of a number of European importers who extended their stay in Italy to visit some of the businesses in Belluno.

The President of Assindustria Belluno, Valentino Vascellari, who also took part in the workshop, emphasized: 'we businessmen need support on Made in Italy. Duty is not needed, nor shall we think that legislation can work wonders; however a reliable position is definitely needed. Border checks shall not be reduced and measures shall be found to enhance Italian design products'. Then, with reference to school education President Vascellari claimed that 'Eyewear needs specialized schools to continuously boost the knowledge and love of glasses, which the province of Belluno has in its blood.'
