Paralympics: the first medals for Italy and Smith

March 14 was a historic day for the Italian skiing team at the Turin Paralymics 2006. The silver medal won by Gianmaria Dal Maistro in the SuperG for the blind became a gold after Germany's Gerd Gradwohl was disqualified because of the incorrect distance between the athlete and his guide. The bronze went to Radomir Dudas from Slovakia.

The fourth day saw a second bronze being won by Milan's Silvia Parente in the skiing event for the blind. She was third in the SuperG, behind Sabine Gasteiger of Austria and Anna Kuliskova from the Czech Republic.

Silvia Parente had already won a bronze for the downhill freestyle on Sunday at Sestriere, bringing Italy its third medal at these events.

For these Olympics, Gianmaria Dal Maistro and his coach Tommaso Salasso wear Phenom goggles by Smith, the sports brand from the Safilo Group. Silvia Parente and her guide Lorenzo Migliari also wear Smith models, Frontline and Theory sunglasses, respectively.
