Obe wins trial against the Chinese company Kanghua Glasses

Obe has won a patent infringement trial which has been going on since 2001 in the first instance against the Chinese company Kanghua Glasses in a Peking court of law.

It concerned a process patent for the manufacture of spectacle spring hinges which was infringed upon by Kanghua Glasses. Kanghua Glasses was judged to have infringed the patent. The applicability of the patent in China was already recognized in advance. An important source for counterfeited products is thus blocked.

'The judgment is a signal for Western buyers of counterfeited products made in China, as Obe has numerous worldwide patents which are infringed upon by the import of counterfeited products made in China', said Frank Schroeder, Marketing Manager of Obe. 'In any case Obe will ensure that the supply of original products to the market in this particular product segment is maintained'.
