Italian eyewear makes its reappearance in Moscow

Last year's catawalk in MoscowFor the third year, Italian eyewear is flying to Moscow, in a preview reveal of the Spring-Summer 2006 fashion trends to the Russian market. The event is set for tomorrow, March 10th, in the illustrious setting of the Pushkin Literary Museum (ulitsa Prechistenka), located in the southwest part of the city center.

This fashion show offers an exclusive, unique, opportunity for Italian manufacturers to expand the aura of 'made in Italy' eyewear. One hundred pieces of craftsmanship - in the form of eyewear and cases - will be the real stars of the show. A truth well-known to the companies who enthusiastically agreed to participate again this year in this spectacular event promoted by Anfao, the Italian Optical Goods Manufacturers' Association, with the cooperation of Italy's Institute for Foreign Trade (Ice) and the Ministry of Production Activities. Full institutional support, therefore, with some prestigious guests on hand to lend their official luster to the fashion parade: Italy's Deputy Minister for Production Activities, Adolfo Urso, and President of Ice, Ambassador Umberto Vattani.

Styles for every taste will be front and center on the Russian runway. Men's and women's eyewear, sportswear and frames for children, manufactured using the most innovative materials and cutting edge designs to create the highest quality eye expressions of the season, will all vie for attention. The Moscow fashion show is one of those moments when Italian eyewear occupies center stage in a 360-degree display of fashion virtuosity. Which explains why Anfao and Ice are proud to promote Italian eyewear around the globe - from Shanghai to Paris, by way of Moscow. An ambitious project, but one that, year after year, gains ever-broader success.

Cirillo Marcolin at last year's catwalk in Moscow'We are very pleased with the positive reaction our international eyewear promotion activities are achieving among member firms', states Anfao President, Cirillo Marcolin, 'who participate in these projects in increasingly large numbers. This year, more than 40 Italian companies will present their lines on the Moscow runways, up more than 20% over last year's figures. This increase in participation confirms the success of these events and fuels our enthusiasm even more in promoting them. In recent years, the Russian market has shown a growing sensitivity to goods made in our country - thus, Anfao's willingness to cultivate this passion for in Made-in-Italy products'.

Strutting their stuff will be the best of the Spring-Summer 2006 trends in Made-in-Italy eyewear. In prescription frames, Italian Style translates into elegant and casual chic eyewear that conveys the 'surprise effect'. Oversized sunglasses, the better to 'hide' behind, aim to conquer with that mysterious, sophisticated touch. Prescription frames, seductive and refined, are a tribute to discretion and enchantment. Black is the sign of the 'Dark Lady'; fluo colors signal the sassy look, and a shower of strass and vibrant gold round out the list of special effects.
