Eyewear included in new Pollini collection

Waves and jacquard themes in brocade are inspired by the eclectic wardrobe of New York icon Iris Barrell Apfel. The vitality and sophisticated glamour of Rome in the Sixties and Elizabeth Taylor, the Fellini frivolousness of 'Giulietta degli spiriti'. 'Black and White Ball' by Truman Capote and the insatiable energy of Penelope Tree. The street-chic of Chelsea dandies. All this is to be found in Pollini's new fall-winter 200/2007 collection by Rifat Ozbek.

The elegance of brocade is emphasized by short dresses and sleeve units, by autumn-flower patterns and optical designs. Black on black, like mohair with patent leather appliques, black with gold, burnt umber with gold in geometrical patterns. Colors that are repeated in the 'natural' variant of animal spots.

Dresses are combined with three-quarter length overcoats in bouclé interwoven with gold and with flashes of saffron-colored mohair. Totally black, close-cropped astrakhan effect for cape-jackets, fur edgings, feather-light hemispherical metal and two-tone black and white, are the collection's reverential tributes to the female icons of our century.

Evening-look, laminated self-colored knitwear with applied collars as fine under-jackets are in tune with textured dresses with a rich-ottoman flavor, or mini plissé dresses in voile and with embossing. Classical 'tight and straight' high-rise trousers.

The materials and patterns of the accessories underscore the apparel themes: boots and shoes with medium heels and square toes. Circle bags with chain handles. The fashion show also hinted at some thing new to Pollini and which will be presented in its entirety at the next Mido (in Milan, May 5 through 8): large, round Sixties-style glasses produced by the Elite Group.
