Chance for eyewear firms to discover energy saving techniques
Energy saving is an extremely topical subject. It is common knowledge that in the future energy will no longer be as widely available as it was in the past, and at the same prices we are used to. For Belluno's eyewear firms, as for all production businesses in the area, energy costs represent a substantial part of the budget. Therefore, it is time to think of possible solutions by improving our knowledge on renewable energy and energy saving, also with a view to finding practical solutions, regulations, economic and utilization opportunities for choosing 'energy saving'.
In this context, the Alto Bellunese Mountain Communities (Centro Cadore - Comelico Sappada and Valle del Boite) with the contribution of the BIM Piave Consortium, which has been sensitive to the subject of energy for some time now and is involved in a varied series of actions for promoting energy saving, have entrusted Certottica with the task of developing training courses with the aim of providing an interesting opportunity for updating and training.
The courses will deal with the subject of 'Using solar energy with photovoltaic and thermal systems' and with 'Energy efficiency in buildings'. At present, solar energy seems to be one of the most popular alternatives, whose efficiency makes it indeed possible to cut the cost of energy. Photovoltaics is still an area that is relatively unused, but in a few years, the new technologies for treating silicon will allow the costs for the panel system to become truly accessible.
Whereas, the 'Energy efficiency in buildings' course will deal with the basic principles, regulations and opportunities for choosing this solution, which has been in use for some time now to satisfy the need, in the coming years, to achieve a significant reduction in the consumption of energy in the building industry, which is responsible, by itself, for an important part of the national energy budget.
The courses target a wide range of users, including company energy managements, technicians and professionals from the electric and hydraulic sector, plant engineers, architects and engineers, as well as those in charge of commercial activities, municipal and Mountain Community technicians, businesses interested in converting their energy production systems using renewable resources and techniques for saving energy in buildings.
The courses, each lasting 16 hours, are held by professors and researchers from the Departments of Mechanical Engineering and Technical Physics from the University of Padua, and include both a theoretical update on the subject and a presentation on the practical solutions that can actually be applied.
The first edition of the courses will be held in Domegge, Borca and Santo Stefano di Cadore starting from January 2007.
