Carrera sunglasses on track for MotoGP 2006
For the MotoGP 2006 season, Carrera, the Safilo Group's sports label, will be taking to the track as co-sponsor of the Lcr team, managed by retired racer Lucio 'The Senator' Cecchinello.
The team will be competing in the MotoGP class with 20-year-old Casey Stoner, the rising Australian star, who closed last season brilliantly in second place in the 250 cc class, and is now making his premier class debut.
But Casey Stoner is just one of Carrera's top-notch testimonials: Finnish Mika Kallio, who is racing in 125 cc, closed last season in second place in the same category, as well as Spaniards Hector Barbera and Jorge Lorenzo, who will be racing in the 250 cc class this year.
Moreover, this year sees a repeat cooperation between Carrera and Dorna, the company that holds MotoGP sales and TV rights. Carrera is officially the 'MotoGP sunglasses supplier' of all Dorna staff, both on track and in the pits. They will don Carrera sunglasses, chosen for the exclusive combination of practicality and design.
The Carrera eyewear label is no newcomer to leading roles in the world of sport and is linked to great champions in many disciplines: from skiing to rugby, not to mention motorcycling. Safilo's sports label is linked to motorcycling by a unique bond: the combination of energy, dynamism and cutting-edge technical know-how that are the hallmark of the sport as much as of the label.
This is the Safilo Group's fifth MotoGP and the investment has brought significant results in terms of visibility and image. Carrera produces state-of-the-art design sunglasses with high technology content: outstanding elements for a dynamic, winning style.
