Algiers: 1.3 million counterfeit products enter the country every year

According to the person in charge of fraud prevention at Algiers Customs HQ, every year 1.3 million counterfeit products enter this country.

Mainly arriving at ports, the majority of these articles comes from China, often by way of the United Arab Emirates.

During the first five months of 2005, around 300 thousand articles were seized and in 58 cases legal action was taken by the Customs services to protect industrial or intellectual property.
