ACNielsen research: Armani and Gucci most sought-after brands
A recent research carried out by ACNielsen on over 21,000 consumers in 42 countries indicates that Giorgio Armani and Gucci are the most sought-after fashion labels in the world.
The online survey involving users in Europe, Asia-Pacific, South Africa, Middle East, United States and Latin America, showed a considerable consensus of opinion despite the diversity of the countries covered. Only 12% of the interviewees actually buy the winning brands, but a good 30% stated that they would buy them willingly, if they could afford to.
According to Frank Martell, president and CEO of ACNielsen Europe, the reason why Armani and Gucci are so successful is linked to their ability to put forward a strong and popular image which goes beyond that of simply being a designer label. Irrespective of their geographical location, many consumers who buy an Armani or Gucci product are conditioned (or, rather, inspired) by the image and the strong global appeal of these brands.
