Francesca Valan

Bio

Francesca Valan is an industrial designer specialising in the design of colours, materials and finishes (CMF Design).

In the design field, her activity consists of designing the identity of products. 
Her projects range from furniture (Gessi, Poggenpohl, Rubelli, Siematic, Tecno) to lifts (Kone), from household appliances (DeLonghi, Samsung, Hitachi) to sporting goods (Eagle, Koflach), from toys (Lego, Chicco Artsana) to car brakes (Brembo).
In the eyewear sector, he collaborates with leading companies in the industry and, with Certottica, has held colour design courses for the company's research and development teams.
He designed the Red in Italy exhibition for Campari at the Ministry of Made in Italy in Rome promoted by Altagamma. 

He has developed a trend forecasting method based on the historical and statistical analysis of colour by market sector, which exploits the cyclicality of colour preferences and the duration of cycles by product type. 

He teaches colour and material design at the Politecnico di Milano, the Istituto Europeo di Design in Milan (IED) and holds courses and lectures at universities and research institutes worldwide. 
Her work is published in national and international architecture and design magazines and books. 
She is a founding member and member of the Presidential Committee of the Gruppo del Colore, an Italian association for the promotion of colour culture.
